I had a chance to visit Claremont during Heritage Open Days, so I'm sharing some photos and writing about Princess Charlotte in my Austen Authors post.

Publishing update
Hello, dear readers! I am finally getting close to publishing A Season Lost! I hope to have it out in November, but with the length of this one, it takes quite awhile to get through a single read, so it will depend on when the typo pace slows or stops in the final proofing process.
But that's how you can help. Similar to what I did with A Change of Legacies, I'd love to have a "typo squad" give the almost-publishable draft a read and let me know if you spot anything. If you participate, I'll give you a published copy in your choice of formats.
Email me at sophieturner1805 [at] gmail [dot] com before Friday, Nov. 2 if you're interested. Also let me know whether you want .mobi or another ebook format, or a PDF.

Frankenstein and the “Year Without a Summer”
JMW Turner's fantastic sunsets were actually the harbinger of terrible weather across much of the world. I'm writing about the "year without a summer" and the novel born of it in today's Austen Authors post.
And watch this space, as we're getting ever-closer to publication for A Season Lost!

Modern Medical Irony
My latest Austen Authors post is about using our modern knowledge of medicine to create irony within my stories. And there's an A Season Lost excerpt to show a little of that irony!

That’s Right, it’s a Post About Privies
Yep, I decided to go there. My latest for Austen Authors is a post about where people went when they, well, had to go, during the Regency era.

Writing a series
Goodness, I realized I forgot to post about my latest Austen Authors post here, and it's one that I think will be of interest to my readers, for I go into details about my process for writing the Constant Love series.

HMS Trincomalee tour
My latest Austen Authors post will be particularly apropos for those following the online beta for A Season Lost: we're continuing on my ship tours with HMS Trincomalee. This is a frigate a bit newer but of comparable size to HMS Caroline, and I've called out some things in the post so you can see visually elements from the story.

A Season Lost online beta + audiobook giveaway
Hello, dear readers! Or should I say dear listeners?
I have several things to apprise you of. The first is that the audiobook for A Chance of Legacies is out! It's actually been out for a little while, but I wanted to pair my other bit of news with this and do a giveaway. So, I'm giving away three pairs of A Constant Love + A Change of Legacies in audiobooks. Simply reply to the Facebook post, Tweet, Goodreads post, or below in the blog, to enter, by midnight USA EST on April 7. If you already have the audiobook of A Constant Love, I'm happy to swap in a copy of Mistress if you win.
My second bit of news is that at long last A Season Lost is ready for online beta. I know it's been a long time coming, and this is in large part because it is the longest thus far of the series (and neither of its predecessors is exactly short!). You can read it and give feedback either on FanFiction.net or Archive of Our Own.
And if you need a refresher as to who is who, and the major marriages, I've posted an updated family tree good through February, 1816, when the book begins.
As with previous postings, this will be a limited-time thing. I'm aiming to put up five chapters every day or so, and will give a warning before it's to come down so that I can edit it further and get it ready for publication.

A walk in Jane Austen's shoes
Was Jane Austen closer to Elizabeth Bennet or Fanny Price, when it came to walking? I'm answering that through first-hand experience in this month's Austen Authors post.

A little sea-bathing will NOT set me up forever
In my most recent Austen Author's post, I'm sharing my time at the seaside AND the first excerpt I believe I've posted from the upcoming A Season Lost. That's right, it's finally starting to hit the point where I can share excerpts! (Although admittedly it's still quite a way from being publication ready.)
