Interview and giveaway at My Jane Austen Book Club

Greetings, dear readers! I'm over at My Jane Austen Book Club today with an interview and a giveaway. It goes into the writing process for The Crimes of Elizabeth Darcy as well as some of the interesting legal things I learned while researching that aspect of the story.

The Crimes of Elizabeth Darcy is finally published!

After a bit of an 11th hour snafu with KDP, The Crimes of Elizabeth Darcy is live in both Kindle and paperback formats!

My author review is posted on Goodreads, but if you want a little (spoilerish for A Generation's Secrets) extra insight, part of the idea actually came from me ruminating over a what if for AGS, which was what if Captain Stanton had been missing for a whole lot longer and came back to find his wife married. I found that premise interesting and realized it could work for Elizabeth and Darcy just as well, provided I could find a setup that would put Darcy on a ship. I can't remember in what order that idea combined with my enjoyment of amnesia tropes and the knowledge that bigamy was a hanging offense at that time, but that was the trio of things that spun into this plot.

I'll be posting a bit more on it and doing some promotion, but for me a book release soon enough means it's time to get back to writing, and I'm very excited about that. Up next is the 5th book in my series, A Dangerous Connection. I'm hoping it's not going to be as long as AGS, but that's not really saying much.

To those of you who've helped give feedback on Crimes, I thank you deeply and hope you enjoy the finished product. For those who are new to the story, I hope you enjoy reading it!

Don't pop the champagne too fast

UPDATE: The Kindle book just went live! Phew!

Is the lesson I have unfortunately learned. I submitted "The Crimes of Elizabeth Darcy" yesterday for publication and KDP came back with an email saying they thought it was in the public domain. There are a couple of reasons why this could be and I've responded to them, but until I get this resolved the book is unfortunately in publication limbo.

Fingers crossed this gets resolved quickly and easily!

Cover for The Crimes of Elizabeth Darcy

We are getting VERY close to publication of The Crimes of Elizabeth Darcy, so close I thought it was time to finally share the cover.

As you can see, this is quite different from my usual covers! With a title this provocative, I wanted a cover that was going to be a provocative match. And I liked the idea of using something very much of the period, a silhouette, in a different way.

You may have noticed the adjustment in my name, as well. I have been considering doing this for quite some time, as you may have noticed I am decidedly not the most famous Sophie Turner out there, hahaha. Given I just crossed the halfway mark for my series, that was what gave me pause. So I decided that I will continue to use Sophie Turner on the covers of those books but begin to introduce the C. in any standalones, with the plan being to completely shift over to that completely once the series is done.

Those who are on ff.net and Archive of Our Own may also have noticed that I have removed all but a preview for those books. This is because I cannot have the story up in full on those sites and also participate in Kindle Unlimited.

One more thing: I am now on Instagram, so if you'd like to give me a follow there, I'll be posting periodically with book covers as well as images from my travels.

Watch this space for news on the final publication of the book!
